Hello. My name is Ryan, and I am a coffee professional living in Seattle, Washington. I’ve been part of the specialty coffee industry since 2005, when I started at a cafe called Lava Java. Since then, I’ve made coffee in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Portland, OR, and Seattle.
In the past, I’ve worked for some pretty fantastic companies.
I’ve had the privilege of competing in several barista competitions. I competed in the 2009 United States Barista Championship, where I was honored to be a finalist and finished 4th. In 2010, I took second place in the Western Regional Barista Competition. Then, in 2011, I took second in the Northwest Regional Barista Competition. I look forward to future involvement in barista competitons.
When I’m not obsessing over coffee you can find me making some music, brewing beer, cooking, or geeking out on some new piece of technology. I also love to travel and you’ll probably hear quite a bit about my travels on this blog.
